Scott Stoffel gave me permition to put this out here in public land. feel free to spread the word.

A number of people have asked me about starting an annual DB camp in PA for adults. I have done some research but have shied away from initiating this effort. It's a huge task that requires major commitment and funding. I did identify a good site, the Beacon Lodge, a camp owned by Lions Club that is already blind accessible. The camp provides lodgings and meals. However, we would need a minimum of 50 total people (DB and SSPs combined) and must organize our own activities during the camp stay.

What I would like to do now is find out who is interested in a DB camp of PA for next summer and to what degree you want to be involved. If you have any interest at all, please take a few minutes to answer the questions below and send your answers to me (Scott Stoffel at scottmstoffel@yahoo.com).

1. Would you be:
a. A DB camper
b. An SSP

2. Which of the following duties are you willing and qualified to handle, if any (select all that apply):
a. Fundraising during fall and winter
b. Supervising SSPs during camp
c. Training SSPs before camp opens
d. Managing camp applications and other paperwork
e. Serving as a camp co-director (handling business functions and decision-making)
f. Planning and running an activity for campers

3. If you selected any items in question #2, are you willing to participate in committee meetings, vote on issues and provide your input when requested?
a. Definitely
b. Maybe
c. I don't have much time for that

4. Do you know of a better site for a DB camp in PA than Beacon Lodge? If so, please provide the name and location of the site. Qualifying sites must provide accessible lodgings and bathrooms, and they must have a meal service.

5. When is the best time to do a camp for you?
a. Late June
b. Mid or late July
c. August
d. Any

Feel free to add any additional comments you have. Please keep in mind that the DB camp is not official yet. This is only a prospect at the moment. For it to become a reality, we must identify enough qualified and dedicated people to make it happen.
